President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday made an impromptu tour of Nyeri and Laikipia counties in what was seen as part of his efforts to regain control of his political backyard.
“We are not so interested in all these political noise making. Our major concern is that whoever takes up national leadership protects the future generation, our economic interests and that our people can live and do business anywhere in this country without fear,” the President said at Chaka town.
Mr Kenyatta, who was accompanied by Chief of Defence Forces Samson Mwathethe and Kieni MP Kanini Kega, spoke after inspecting the ongoing rehabilitation works on the Nanyuki-Nyeri-Karatina railway line at Chaka Market.
The President added that he would not allow some politicians to “sell fear” to the people of Mt Kenya.
